Thank YOU for being part of the FUN!
On Friday, October 18th, we continued our Homecoming tradition as we welcomed students, alumni, parents, grandparents, families, faculty, and friends to Covenant’s campus for an afternoon of food, fun, and games. Events included a Pep Rally, Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer games, a Girls Varsity Volleyball game, and a Grammar School Family Fun area! All proceeds from Homecoming support the Jade A. Williamson and Tyler Luiz Simoes Memorial Scholarship Fund here at CCA, which honors the lives of Jade and Tyler by generously blessing two CCA USLR students each year. Play For Jade
Eight years ago, the Covenant community experienced the devastating loss of one of our precious students. Adored by her teachers and classmates alike, Jade Williamson was full of life and joy as she prepared to begin kindergarten in the fall of 2016. A sudden illness, just shy of her 5th birthday, tragically took Jade’s life and left her family and loved ones shattered. Our community grieved with the Williamsons, prayed together, and celebrated Jade’s life while promising never to forget her beautiful spirit. Jade was a gift to us all, and we will always join Adam, Jenny, and Jacob (Gr.11) in keeping her memory alive. God has been faithful and true, and the Williamson family will attest to the many ways that God has used this tragedy, bringing beauty out of ashes. If you have never had the chance, we encourage you to visit Jade’s Garden, a beautifully renovated memorial courtyard on the school’s grounds for our Early Childhood students.
Shortly after Jade’s passing, Jenny and Adam established the Jade A. Williamson Memorial Scholarship in Jade’s honor, and in 2021, CCA began what will continue to be an annual tradition of “Playing for Jade” at our Varsity Homecoming games each fall.
Team Tyler
In July of 2024, the Covenant Community suffered the devastating loss of cherished student Tyler Simoes. Having just completed his seventh-grade year, Tyler was a vibrant example of everything CCA aspires to cultivate in our students. At just 13 years of age, Tyler truly embodied the virtues we hope to see in our graduates. He was bright, tenacious, compassionate, humble, and full of joy, even as he endured a multi-year battle with RAC2, a genetic disease resulting in autoimmunity and immune dysfunction. Fondly referred to as Team Tyler, Tyler’s countless friends and family joined forces in constant prayer and support. Cherished friend, classmate, and student, Tyler will be missed beyond measure by the many who loved him deeply.
Our community stands united in mourning the loss of Tyler, beloved son of Danielle and Fabio, and sister to CCA graduate Yasmin (’17). Together, we have prayed, shared our sorrow, and honored Tyler’s vibrant spirit. He was a precious gift to us all, and we will forever support the Simoes Family in cherishing his memory. From this tragedy, we have witnessed the faithfulness of God, who we know will bring hope and beauty from our heartache.
Play For Jade and Team Tyler
The Williamsons and the Simoes have shared a friendship and deep bond ever since Jade and Tyler became classmates and friends in PreSchool. The CCA community is comforted knowing that Jade and Tyler are enjoying the blessing of Heaven together. Beginning this year, with the blessing of both families, we will Play For Jade and Team Tyler and raise funds for the Jade A. Williamson and Tyler Luiz Simoes Memorial Scholarship Fund during Homecoming on Friday, October 18th. All donations and proceeds received through the sale of “Play for Jade” and “Team Tyler” wristbands, Homecoming 2024 T-shirts, as well as all concessions and Covenant merchandise sold at our Homecoming games will go directly to the Fund, with a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10,000.
Each year, the Jade A. Williamson and Tyler Luiz Simoes Memorial Scholarship Fund will bless one current CCA Upper School male student and one current CCA Upper School female student who, like both Jade and Tyler, reflects a love for Jesus and sincere appreciation for a Covenant education. We hope you will join us as we celebrate Jade’s and Tyler’s legacy.

Game Recaps:
Boys Varsity Soccer: CCA 3 vs. Landmark 1
In a highly emotional and fiercely contested match, CCA triumphed over Landmark with a final score of 3-1. The game kicked off with an impressive header goal from Bennett Plosker (’25), giving CCA an early lead. However, Landmark managed to equalize with an unfortunate own goal by CCA before the first half concluded. The second half saw both teams battling aggressively, maintaining the intensity throughout. Tristan Vieira (’26) showcased his skill with a stunning long free kick from about 30 yards out, which extended CCA’s lead. Wes Libby (’28) added to the score, sealing the game at 3-1. It was a hard-fought victory for CCA, reflecting their determination and teamwork.
Girls Varsity Soccer: CCA 4 vs. Landmark 1
CCA defended home field on Homecoming with a 4-1 win over IGC opponent, Landmark School. The Cougars opened the scoring 4 minutes into the match as Anne Hammond (’25) scored directly from a corner kick. CCA would add to their lead in the 25th minute at Nova Jones (’27) created space at the top of the penalty box and placed a shot in the upper 90. CCA led 2-0 at the half. The girls played with more control and purpose in the second half and scored two more goals. Excellent team play led to a finish by Leah McEachern (’26) and a lovely 1-2 combination between Carys Walters (’25) and Jones resulted in Walters’ 8th goal of the season. Landmark kept competing and scored a late consolation goal.
Girls Varsity Volleyball: CCA 3 vs. Boston Trinity Academy 0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-19)
Girls Varsity Volleyball hosted Boston Trinity Academy for our Homecoming match on Friday night – and the girls won in three exciting and entertaining sets: 25-15, 25-23, 25-19. The PAAC was packed, and the place was rocking! Every player made meaningful contributions to this team win. The Cougars started out red-hot, building a big lead during the first set by scoring from behind the service line and on attack. The second set was tightly contested, with the Cougars needing a clutch kill by Leanna Rothier (’27), assisted by Riley Baird (’25), to finish the set. The third set was also a back-and-forth affair, with the girls making timely plays at key moments to secure the victory. The Cougars’ attack was led by 7 kills from Leanna, 6 kills from Julia Ray (’25), and consistent communication from Riley. Magdalen Miller (’25), Madeleine Trumbull (’25), and Ella Chewning (’25) made a variety of important plays on defense.
